Did Mingus directly inspire the lyrics for your song “One Two Three”?

Nat Baldwin: Yeah, that’s totally where the idea for the song comes from! I wrote it five years ago and you’re the first to ask. That’s one of my all-time favorite books. He was basically talking about the multiple layers of the human personality, and how they work with and against each other. With that constant internal battle, one will become dominant and will be what we project to other people and the world, even though there may be much more going on within us. As a restless person struggling with those multiple personalities that often contradict one another, I could immediately relate.
